SFM v6.09

Sentinel Fleet Management version 6.09 is now released. This release includes several new features supported on CalAmp LMU2820 devices, added functionality on the Map (new) screen, support for custom report templates, and various bug fixes and performance improvements.

Features available to all customers

Do more from the Map (new) screen.

We’ve added two new features to the Map (new) screen to improve usability.

Firstly, we’ve added the option to save and reuse search filters. There’s a new Filters drop-down menu just below the map. Here, you can either select an existing filter (Select Filter) or save the current configuration (Save or Save As).

These filters can be reused and applied to various fleets or levels in a hierarchy by using the normal fleet/hierarchy selection process. Filters can be saved for manually selected vehicles, the currently applied filter, or a combination of both.

Secondly, you can now create fleets directly on the Map (new) screen. To do so, simply select one or more vehicles and then click Create Fleet in the Actions drop-down menu just above the list of vehicles.

Once a fleet is created, users have the ability to generate reports based on that particular fleet. This allows a fleet manager to easily run a report based on custom criteria by combining the previous new feature (saving and applying filters) with this new fleet creation feature – for example, a Fuel Consumption report on all Freightliner trucks in their fleet.

You can now save and apply templates to any Excel reports you run. These templates can be used to apply your own macros, charts, formulas, etc. to Excel reports generated in Sentinel FM.

Simply select Template from the Format drop-down menu and then select a template Excel file on your computer. Note that only one template file can be applied to a report.

Template files must be in the .XLS file format (Excel 97-2003) and can only be viewed and used by the user who uploaded them. The templates can be previewed when generating a report, and they can have multiple sheets, macros, pivot tables, and charts.

Here’s a quick example of a template being used to format the data in an Activity Summary Report into a custom Pivot Chart:

Oversee remote locations from your main office.

For customers using CalAmp LMU2820 devices, you can now send remote commands to light stands. This allows you to turn on lighting stands remotely, which is useful for customers that have night crews working in remote locations.

You can now do the following:

  • Turn lights on and off remotely via a telemetry input
  • Remotely wake up units
  • Send on and off commands via a cellular network
  • Send commands to one unit, multiple units, or all units
